At Nexa Finance we connect ambitious people, businesses and institutions to offer dynamically different lending solutions, with a personal approach.


We’re dedicated to building brighter financial futures from our base in the East Midlands. We connect SME Property Developers with funders to provide a truly alternative lending model that challenges the overcomplicated commercial models favoured by traditional banks.


Our knowledge of the industry means we understand the value that SME Property Developers bring to our local regions and we aim to make it easier for them to secure funding.


To do this, we’ve created simple, jargon free products which are delivered and explained by our close knit, experienced team. You won’t be passed from pillar to post – the people you meet are the people you’ll deal with throughout the process. 


We want to bypass complicated and unnecessary processes and communicate with you in a straightforward way. This combined with our manual underwriting and ability to assess and understand the merits of each deal using common sense and straightforward rationale, creates a simple, streamlined lending process designed to create brighter financial futures for all.

Brian Cartwright
Co-Founder and Managing Director
Brian started his career in the early 90s, working for a Bank of Scotland subsidiary. He spent 17 years in the Asset Finance Industry, working for them and for Barclays.


In 2012, he moved to Leicestershire to join Cambridge & Counties Bank, who specialised in niche property finance. He spent his time there as Director of Sales before being promoted to Commercial Director. In 2016, Brian joined the Peer to Peer lender RateSetter, to head up their SME Business Finance Division.


Brian is an experienced banker, leader and strategist with over 25 years’ experience of lending money to UK SMEs. He is passionate about supporting local SME businesses, and after identifying that property developers and house builders across Leicestershire and Rutland were being underserved by the more traditional, established banks, Nexa Finance was born, to fill an ever widening gap in the market.


Brian lives in Rutland with his wife Rebecca and two cockapoos.

1. Property Development Loan
The NEXA property development loan is available to SME property developers and house builders seeking to build small scale residential homes in Leicestershire, Rutland and in the wider East Midlands region.

2. Property Refurbishment Loan
The NEXA property refurbishment loan is available for the conversion of existing residential buildings, or commercial buildings with planning permission to convert into residential dwellings. This product is generally provided on the same terms as the property development loan, although the minimum advance is lower (£150K, as opposed to £250K). The maximum loan available is £750,000 on any one site.

3. Property Exit Loan
The NEXA property exit loan has been designed specifically to support property developers to raise capital on completed projects, in order to fund their next developments. This product will only be made available to borrowers to facilitate new developments, funded or refinanced by NEXA. Exit loans will also be considered to repay existing development or refurbishment loans that will not be repaid in full by the original, expected expiry date.
